COURTSIDE reporter Apple David appealed for kindness and respect, after she confirmed that she and 18-year-old National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) basketball player Chad Gammad have been dating for a month now.
“I know it’s a very risky relationship because of the age gap, but it’s a risk we are both taking,” said David, 33, in an exclusive video statement aired on “Frontline Pilipinas” on Tuesday, May 26. “I hope people can be kind enough to allow us to do that in peace.”
David expressed gratitude to those who extended support to her and Gammad, while also apologizing to those who were “offended” by their relationship. She nonetheless stressed that the two of them are already adults.
“We’re sorry but we just ask for respect as this should be a happy time for us,” she added.
Prior to this, David addressed criticisms thrown at her after she shared a photo of herself and a mystery man, who was speculated to be Gammad.
“Sa buhay ba natin, lagi tayong nakakapili? Paano ‘yung mga dumating bigla na sitwasyon and you just can’t explain it? I cannot explain it,” she said. “I guess kahit anong ingay niyo or [kahit] iparating niyo sa ibang universe ‘tong issue, kahit ano pang bashing ang abutin niyan, kayo lang ang nase-stress.”
(In life, do we always get to choose? What about the situations that suddenly come our way and you just can’t explain them? I cannot explain it. I guess no matter how much noise you make or even if you bring this issue to another universe, no matter how much bashing it receives, you’re the only ones getting stressed.)
She further laughed off remarks about their age gap, saying, “Masama bang bigyan ng chance? Nag-click eh. Anong gagawin ko?” (Is it wrong to give someone a chance? We clicked. What am I supposed to do?)
Gammad has yet to publicly speak on the matter as of this writing. (INQUIRER.net)
