CAMP PERALTA, Jamindan, Capiz — Philippine Army commanding general Lieutenant General Antonio Nafarrete has lauded the 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) for its dedication to duty, urging its troops to gear up for the military’s strategic transition from internal security to territorial defense operations.
Nafarrete made the call during his visit to the 3ID headquarters on Saturday, Oct. 11, where he conferred various awards to 14 officers and enlisted personnel recognized for exceptional service in maintaining peace and order across Western and Central Visayas, including the Negros Island Region.
“Our Army has your back. We will utilize every resource at our disposal to support your endeavors,” Nafarrete told the troops in his “Talk to Troops” session, encouraging them to sustain their performance and morale amid evolving national defense priorities.
The Army Chief presented the Gawad sa Kapayapaan, Military Achievement Medal, Gold Cross Medal, Silver Cross Medal, and Military Merit Medal with Bronze Spear Device to the honorees, describing their achievements as a reflection of the Army’s core values of service, honor, and patriotism.
He also emphasized the 3ID’s growing role in national defense: “Let’s stay focused on our Internal Security Operations, but also be prepared for our transition into Territorial Defense Operations. Together, we can accomplish what is set before us.”
3ID commander Major General Michael Samson expressed gratitude for Nafarrete’s visit, saying it reaffirmed the Philippine Army’s appreciation of the troops’ hard work and sacrifices.
“The presence of our Commanding General affirms the Philippine Army’s acknowledgment of the hard work and sacrifices our troops make daily. This inspires us all to pursue our duties with excellence and integrity,” Samson said.
