Army’s 3ID sings for peace

ILOILO City – The Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division (3ID) held a “peace concert” at a mall in Mandurriao district on Saturday.

It amplified calls for peace and unity in Western and Central Visayas, said Major General Benedict Arevalo, 3ID commander.

Themed “United in Music, One for Peace”, the concert gathered performers from Western and Central Visayas, the Police Regional Office 6 band, and 3ID band.

The Philippine Army was founded on March 22, 1897 after the signing of the Tejeros Convention with Captain General Artemio Ricarte as its first commanding general.

Among the performers in the concert here were:

* Nicky Dumapit (percussionist);

* Krizza Ann (will represent the Philippines in the Asia-Pacific Arts Festival in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam)

* Joseph Scott Sugidan (comedian)

* Slim Shadow (two-time Philippine representative to the biggest hip-hop dance festival, the World Supremacy Battleground, in Sydney Australia)

* Urban Beat (four-time Buglasan rap champion)

* Frequency (two-time champion, Black Aquintance Negros)

* Mano Saldivar (champion in two divisions of the World Championships of the Performing Arts in Long Beach, California, USA)

“We held the concert to entertain people and to promote peace kasi hindi lahat sa Army ay away lang. Gusto natin maging peaceful ang ating bansa,” said Arevalo./PN
