Ati-atihan Festival preparation kicks off

KALIBO, Aklan – To ensure grander Ati-atihan celebration next year, the local festival council have started the preparations early. 

Kalibo Sr. Sto. Niño Ati-atihan Management Council head Apolonio Zaraspe said they already

conducted a series of conferences in relation to the staging of one of the most sought-after festivals in the country. 


Zaraspe added that he is planning to revive the old Ati-atihan revelry traditions.

“Among the traditions to be revived is the reenactment of the arrival of the ten Bornean datus, snake dancing revelry among others,” he said.

According to Zaraspe, the annual celebration – dubbed as the “Mother of all Philippine Festivals” – will begin Jan. 10 and will run until Jan. 19.


“We will also schedule the opening salvo of the ati-atihan celebration on the first week of November in time for the Kalibo foundation day,” he said./PN
