MANILA – Atlanta Hawks relied on a strong endgame rally to pull off a 117-111 victory over Golden State Warriors during the 2020-2021 National Basketball Association Season on Easter Sunday (Monday in the Philippines) at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
Trailing 97-98, the Hawks went on an 8-0 blast via three-pointer by Bogdan Bogdanovic and Tony Snell and a two-pointer by Lou Williams to build a 105-98 advantage.
Stephen Curry pulled the Warriors to within 103-105 but the Hawks got a two-pointer from Williams and five straight points from Clint Capela to widen the lead to 114-106 with 32 seconds left.
Golden State made its last push at 111-115 on a basket by Curry and a triple by Kelly Oubre Jr. but two free throws from Gallinari sealed the victory for Atlanta.
Gallinari finished the match with double-double 25 points and 10 rebounds while Capela had a double-double of 24 points and 18 rebounds for the Hawks (26-24).
Williams and Trae Young contributed 15 and 13 markers, respectively. Bogdanovic and Kevin Huerter added 10 points each for the Hawks, which played without John Collins, DeAndre Hunter, and Cam Reddish.
Curry ended the game with 37 points for the slumping Warriors (23-27), while Oubre, Andrew Wiggins, and Draymond Green gave 20, 16, and 11 markers, respectively.
Meanwhile, Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers remained knotted on top of the Eastern Conference standings with a 34-16 record following separate defeats.
The Nets – missing the services of Kevin Durant and James Harden – suffered a 115-107 defeat at the hands of Chicago Bulls (20-28), while the 76ers, which were without Joel Embiid, were ousted by the Memphis Grizzlies (24-23), 116-100.
In other results, Los Angeles Clippers (33-18) waylaid the shorthanded Los Angeles Lakers (31-19), while Boston Celtics (24-25) outduelled Charlotte Hornets (25-23), 116-86.
