BACOLOD City – The works of artists from the cities of Silay, Bacolod and Talisay I Negros Occidental will be showcased as 10 of them made it as finalists to the Bacolaodiat Festival 2017 Chinese Lantern-Making Contest.
The Bacolaodiat Festival is this city’s version of the Chinese New Year celebration.
The following artists are the contest finalists:
* Christopher Cape (The Chozen One)
* Charlie Chavez (Barangay 22)
* Crispulo Rosales (Kite Maker)
* Argie Payumo (D.A. Arts)
* Ebenezer Ursos Jr. (Artek)
* Patrick Payumo (Adventurer)
* Jero Dymosco (Stedy Latsi)
* Clarence Gutierrez (Spectrum)
* Kenneth Balayo (Tribu K.A.), and
* Alvin Infante.
Lanterns will be displayed and judged on Jan. 21, 4 p.m., at The District Ayala North Point.
Winners will get the following cash prizes:
* P30,000 — first place
* P20,000 — second place
* P10,000 — third place.
There will be three consolation prizes of P5,000 for the succeeding fourth, fifth, and sixth places.
Lanterns will be displayed from Jan. 21 to Feb. 4.
Meanwhile, out of 11 groups that went through a thorough screening at Yong Tho Taoist Temple, only five groups were chosen for the Bacolaodiat Festival 2017 Lantern Street Dance Competition.
JoJaju, Alijisnons, Yuri Crew, MD39, and D’ Dancing Dragon will join the 2016 Lantern Street Dance Competition top three, Choi Force, Granadians, and Double J Full Force, who were guaranteed slots for the competition.
The eight groups will compete for the street dance on Jan. 28 and lantern dance on Jan. 29./PN
