BACOLOD City – The city government here is set to resume the distribution of financial assistance under its “Bayad Agad” program.
Alma Gustilo, officer of Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO) of the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD), confirmed that the cash aid payout either resumed yesterday, May 13, or will continue today, May 14.
The city temporarily suspended the payout on May 2 following a directive from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in relation to the conduct of the May 12 elections. Despite the city securing a certificate of exemption, Comelec imposed a 10-day ban on the release of financial aid during the election period.
To avoid overcrowding and long lines, Gustilo advised beneficiaries to wait for a text message from the city government before proceeding to the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) for their scheduled payout.
“Since the payout is just resuming, we want to manage the influx of recipients. That’s why we advise them to wait for their scheduled notification before coming to the BCGC,” Gustilo said.
The Bayad Agad program is a locally funded initiative that provides immediate financial aid to qualified residents facing emergencies such as fire incidents, burial needs, educational support, and medical expenses./PN
