BACOLOD City – The Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) has formally requested the city government to extend the deadline for filing business permits and the first quarter payment of business taxes until March 31, 2025.
In a letter dated February 14 and addressed to Acting Mayor El Cid Familiaran, MBCCI president Atty. Juliana Carbon conveyed the appeal on behalf of the local business community.
MBCCI vice president for government affairs Frank Carbon emphasized that the extension would help ease the burden on businesses and reinforce Bacolod’s image as a business-friendly city.
Familiaran acknowledged the request and assured that he would forward it to the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) for consideration.
Earlier, the city government extended the deadline for business permit renewals and new applications from January 21 to February 15 following the passage of a resolution by the city council. The initial deadline had lapsed on January 20, but with many businesses still in the process of completing their filings, the SP approved an extension.
Familiaran expressed confidence that the city council would act favorably on MBCCI’s request. He also plans to ask concerned offices and agencies involved in the Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) to remain stationed at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) lobby to accommodate applicants./PN
