BACOLOD City – The Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) is ready to distribute cash assistance for city residents economically displaced by the recent imposition of modified enhanced community quarantine.
Pacita Tero, DSSD head, said qualified beneficiaries may receive P1,000 to P5,000 under the financial assistance program granted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
For this month, according to Tero, the DSSD will be releasing P5 million and the scheduled payout is next week. Another P5 million will be released next month.
Tero suspended the processing of the cash aid early this month due to unexpected big crowd of people that converged at the Bacolod City Government Center.
But the DSSD already reassessed the program and evaluated strategies to safely and efficiently distribute the assistance, according to Tero.
The most qualified beneficiaries to avail themselves of the emergency subsidy are construction workers, private schools teachers, entertainment employees, beauticians, public transportation drivers, among others.
“The payout will be held in the beneficiaries’ respective barangays after an assessment and validation,” Tero said./PN
