BACOLOD City – The City Permits and Licensing Division registered a total of 20,953 business permit applications during the two months of Business One-Stop-Shop (Boss) this year.
Division head Stela Rose Rayos said the number of business registrants recorded from Jan.2 to Fe b. 29 is seven-percent higher compared to last year’s 19,572.
The city conducted the BOSS to cater the renewal of business permits and registration of new businesses for 2020.
Rayos noted the closure of several business establishments, who have operated without a permit last year, may have triggered business owners to register and this contributed to the increase.
She said almost all of business establishments shuttered last year have already secured their permits.
Since the one stop shop event is over, Rayos said a 25 percent surcharge will be added for those who were unable to process their permits on time.
She noted that there were about 1,600 new business registrations, who had applied in just a period of two months and the rest were renewals.
Rayos said the city will convene the members of the Joint Inspection Team this month, which would carry out the inspection of business establishments in the city by April./PN
