BACOLOD City – To enhance accessibility for vulnerable groups, the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) here has urged the Management Information Technology Computer Services (MITCS) of the city government to consider a more localized approach for issuing identification cards to senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
A resolution, introduced last week by Councilor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, calls for the scheduled distribution of IDs directly within community barangays.
Sayson pointed out that many ID recipients live in remote areas, where traveling to central locations poses significant challenges.
By decentralizing the issuance process, the city aims to alleviate travel burdens, reduce costs, and minimize physical discomfort for these community members, he explained.
“Senior citizens and PWDs are integral to our community, deserving of effortless access to services and benefits,” Sayson said.
He emphasized the necessity of these IDs in enabling seniors and PWDs to access various legal benefits and privileges.
The resolution proposes that the MITCS collaborate with local barangay officials to establish a systematic schedule that prioritizes accessibility and convenience for all beneficiaries. The finalized resolution will be forwarded to the Office of the City Mayor, the MITCS, and all respective barangay councils to ensure informed and coordinated action./PN
