
BACOLOD City – This city will mark its 86th Charter Day on June 18 with the theme, “Pagsaulog sang Pagbag-o para sa Masanyogon nga Asenso.”
The week-long activities dubbed “Mga Adlaw Sang Paghanduraw” – the city’s annual commemoration of history, art and culture – will start on June 12 with the 126th Philippine Independence Day celebration and will conclude with the commemoration of Rizal Day on June 19.
One of the much-anticipated activities is the comeback of the Barangay Festival Dance competition scheduled for June 18 at the Bacolod City Government Center.
According to Rodel Parcon, the competition’s secretariat, 15 barangays will compete and each barangay should have a maximum of 40 performers (including propsmen).
Parcon said the festival dance competition will serve as the culminating activity of the Charter Day celebration.
The champion will receive a cash prize of P80,000. The first and second runners-up will take home P50,000 and P30,000, respectively.
A P10,000 cash prize each will also be given to special awardees: Best in Costume, Best in Choreography and Best in Concept.
Parcon added that participating barangays will be given a subsidy of P10,000 each./PN
