BACOLOD City – A delay in extracting and isolating individuals positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) increases the risk of them infecting 90 percent of their household members, according to Dr. Rosalie Deocampo, head of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Contact Tracing Cluster.
To prevent this, “prompt extraction and isolation” of COVID-19 positive individuals must be implemented, Deocampo stressed.
Executive Assistant Ernesto Pineda, head of the city’s Extraction Cluster, affirmed this saying 100 percent of the active COVID-19 patients have been transferred from their homes to their assigned quarantine facilities “on time.”
The city has thus “zero backlog” in extraction, noted City Administrator Em Ang, executive director of EOC.
As of Aug. 5, Bacolod had 849 active cases out of the total 15,598 coronavirus cases.
“The efforts of our frontliners in the Extraction Cluster have paid off. Their performance has greatly contributed in lowering our COVID-19 cases recently,” Ang added.
Ang cited the collaboration among EOC clusters, especially the Legal Team, Liga ng mga Barangay, Bacolod City Police Office, Isolation Facilities Cluster, and Information-Education Cluster.
“It couldn’t have been possible without the hard work of all EOC clusters working hand in hand to put up a system that is collaborative, harmonized, and synchronized in battling against this pandemic,” she added./PN
