Bacolod fare hike OK’d at reg’l level

BACOLOD City – The fare increase proposal in this capital city was approved at the regional level.

Elizabeth Katalbas, president of the Federation of Bacolod City Driver’s Association (Febacda), said the proposal is now pending action at the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) central office.

Febacda filed the petition prescribing a P2.50 increase in the current P6.50 minimum fare in Bacolod.

On June 23, the LTFRB approved a petition for fare increase that three Iloilo transport groups have filed.

Once a new fare matrix is released, minimum fare in Iloilo City and Iloilo province will be P9.

Raymundo Parcon, president of the Iloilo City Loop Alliance of Jeepney Owners and Drivers Association, said the minimum P9 fare is for the first five kilometers.

There will be an additional P1 for every succeeding kilometer, he added./PN
