BACOLOD City— The Bacolod City Fire Station of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has strengthened fire preparedness in 16 identified Red Zone barangays through the turnover of fire suppression equipment donated by private-sector partners.

The equipment was turned over during the “Adopt a Red Zone Program: Fire Safety Equipment Turn Over” held October 6 at the fire station garage, led by City Fire Marshal Supt. Jenny Mae C. Masip.

The initiative brought together 22 private-sector partners and representatives from the 16 selected Red Zone barangays to strengthen community-level preparedness and improve the capacity of high-risk areas to respond to fires and other emergencies.

A total of 72 fire extinguishers and six fire hoses were donated by participating private-sector partners and distributed to their adopted barangays.

The BFP said the equipment would provide communities with additional resources for immediate fire suppression while awaiting the arrival of responding fire units, particularly in areas where fires could spread rapidly.

Masip expressed appreciation to the participating businesses for responding to the call to adopt Red Zone barangays where their establishments are located.

The BFP said the program highlights the importance of government-private sector cooperation in addressing fire risks and protecting communities.

The Red Zone initiative aims to bring fire safety resources closer to communities identified as vulnerable to fire incidents while encouraging residents and local stakeholders to take a more active role in fire prevention and emergency response.

The BFP said the partnership demonstrates a shared commitment to preventing fires, strengthening community preparedness, and protecting lives and property.

Through continued collaboration with businesses and barangay communities, the Bacolod City Fire Station seeks to build a safer and more fire-resilient city./PN
