BACOLOD City – The City Legal Office (CLO) is giving two options to informal settler families (ISFs) along Mambuloc Creek in Barangay 3 – voluntarily vacate the area or face demolition.
The city government is preparing eviction notices to over 50 ISFs, according to Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting Jr. said.
The CLO will give the affected families 15 days upon receipt of the notice to vacate that will be served to them tentatively today, May 10.
After the given period, the city government will demolish the structures not removed or vacated.
The ISFs had already been provided a relocation site by the Bacolod Housing Authority (BHA) in Barangay Vista Alegre, but many failed to comply with the necessary requirements to avail themselves of the housing, according to Ting.
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) district engineer Abraham Villareal said they will be rehabilitating Mambuloc Creek which overflows during rainy days, causing flooding in the Reclamation Area./PN
