Bacolod gymnasts bag gold, bronzes in Nat’l Games

MANILA – Bacolod City-based gymnasts captured four medals in the 2018 Philippine National Games at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

Althea Descutido of Trinity Christian School and Kiana Marie Alagaban of Bacolod Tay Tung High School bagged one gold and three bronze medals in rhythmic gymnastics.

The 16-year-old Descutido won gold in the hoop category of the seniors’ division before settling for a bronze medal in the all-around, clubs and ribbon categories.

Alagaban, a former Palarong Pambansa gold medalist, on the other hand, took home two bronze medals in the all-around and ribbon categories of the juniors’ division.

“Being a first-timer in the PNG, I am glad that I was able to bag medals here,” the 14-year-old Alagaban said of her wins on May 14.
