BACOLOD City — The Bacolod City Government formally recognized the Top 3 awardees and finalists of the JCI–The Outstanding Students Awards 2026 during a ceremony held at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) lobby on April 11.
Secretary to the Mayor Atty. Marty Go emphasized the city’s pride in honoring students who exemplify not only academic excellence but also leadership, integrity, and service.
The recognition covered both high school and college categories, including the Top 3 awardees and finalists.
Go described JCI–THOS as a program that celebrates young individuals who excel not only in academics, but also in leadership, communication, community involvement, and values-driven service.
“This recognition highlights that Bacolod’s future is in capable hands,” Go said, noting that today’s youth continue to embody discipline, compassion, and a strong commitment to service.
Mayor Greg Gasataya, who graced the event, expressed admiration for the awardees and finalists, underscoring the importance of nurturing young Bacolodnons whose character and dedication can help build a more progressive and inclusive city.
“Aton ginapasidunggan ang kabataan nga may handum, prinsipyo, kag dedikasyon sa pagserbisyo,” the mayor said, honoring the youth whose achievements inspire not only their schools and families but the entire community.

*Elisha Karlynne Cañet — Bacolod Tay Tung High School
*Ariana Mary Janeo — Doña Montserrat Lopez Memorial High School
*Miguel Alfonso Jison — St. John’s Institute
College Category
*Mika Grace Regala — Philippine Normal University Visayas
*Kyrie Meliz Ferrer — STI West Negros University
*Neil Kevin Natabio — Carlos Hilado Memorial State University
Special recognition was also given to recipients of individual excellence awards in leadership, academics, community service, communication, bidbook presentation, Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) advocacy video, and legacy.
“To all the finalists and awardees, your city sees you, celebrates you, and believes in what you can become,” Go said.
He added that the youth should continue to lead with purpose, serve with heart, and use their gifts to help build a stronger, smarter, and more compassionate Bacolod./PN
