Bacolod inmates register for May 2022 polls

BACOLOD City – A total of 102 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) from the Metro Bacolod District Jail (MBDJ) in Barangay Singcang-Airport registered for the May 2022 elections yesterday.

According to Commission on Elections (Comelec) officer Kathrina Caña, the registration was exclusive to PDLs.

On Sept. 4, Comelec also held a special registration at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Barangay Handumanan.

A total of 185 PDLs registered, according to Caña.

A PDL, as defined by Republic Act 10575, or The Bureau of Corrections Act of 2013, “refers to a detainee, inmate, or prisoner, or other persons under confinement or custody in any other manner.”

On the other hand, Comelec-Bacolod will conduct a satellite registration on Oct. 18 to Oct. 19 at Ayala Malls Capitol Central.

“Those with online appointments will be accommodated,” Caña said./PN
