BACOLOD City – The local government unit here constituted the Bacolod City Disposal Committee (BCDC) following an executive order (EO) issued by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez recently.
The BCDC will inspect properties in the city that are to be disposed of either because they are unserviceable, no longer needed, or as requested by the user or custodian of the property, part of the EO said.
It added that the committee will make a master list of properties to be disposed of, indicating their description, quantity, accountable or assigned person/office, reason for disposal, their appraisal value if any, and the mode of disposal.
The master list of properties to be disposed of shall be submitted to the Commission on Audit, Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP), and other concerned offices.
Furthermore, the BCDC will supervise the conduct of actual disposal of property in accordance with existing laws and regulations, the EO cited.
The committee will be composed of the city mayor as chairperson, vice chairperson – city administrator; and members – SP chair of the committee on government assets, city treasurer, city accountant, city assessor, city budget officer, city planning and development officer, general services officer, and other concerned heads of offices.
Earlier, the SP passed a resolution authored by city councilor Israel Salanga, chair of the committee on government assets, asking the mayor to create such a committee to address the problem pertaining to the unserviceable units of the city that are stocked up in the vicinity of Bacolod City College in Barangay Sum-ag./PN
