BACOLOD City – Effective today, August 5, members of the Bacolod City Comprehensive Health Program (BacCHP) can avail themselves of the five percent discount from pharmacies here.
Mae Cuaycong, the focal person for BacCHP, said this initiative aims to support city residents with hospital admissions and funeral assistance.
Cuaycong, however, clarified that senior citizens and persons with disability are not included to avail of the medicine discount as they are already entitled to receive significant discounts.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez will announce the name of the pharmacies offering discount during today’s flag-raising ceremony at the Bacolod City Government Center.
Cuaycong said the discount was voluntary offered by the pharmacies, and she added that the city government through the City Legal Office is preparing for a deal via a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with these pharmacies for the “voucher medicine” system through the BacCHP.
Additionally, Cuaycong said pharmacies with resident doctors will offer free consultation every month to BacCHP members.
Meanwhile, BacCHP desks placed in two malls here are now open.
Located at the Government Service Express in SM City Bacolod and Bacolod Express Service Office in Ayala Malls Capitol Central, BacCHP desks are accepting applicants and inquiries.
“The purpose is to help the applicants kay everyday damo gihapon naga-apply sa office sa Bacolod City Government Center para sa BacCHP,” said Cuaycong.
Data from the city government showed that as of July 19, around 55,000 residents have been issued BacCHP IDs, almost 5,000 cardholders have already availed themselves of the service, and 107,425 have pending BacCHP membership applications.
BacCHP is one of the flagship programs of Mayor Benitez. This initiative seeks to boost healthcare delivery mainly for indigent residents through in-patient services in major hospitals./PN
