BACOLOD City – Flower vendors in Bacolod Public Plaza will transfer to a new location ahead of All Saints’ Day on November 1 and All Souls’ Day on November 2.
This comes after the City Council’s passage of a resolution extending the special permit to MassKara Festival 2024 food kioks for an additional period of four days from October 28 to October 31.
City Administrator Lucille Gelvolea said the Council, in a special session yesterday, approved the recommended substitute areas for flower vendors.
“Relative to the extended period granted for MassKara food kiosks at the public plaza, our flower vendors, whom almost majority had already secured special permits for this year’s All Saints’ and All Souls’ days selling, may not be able to utilize their usual locations at the San Juan and Gonzaga sides of the public plaza,” said Gelvolea.
Flower vendors who had secured special permits are allowed to operate beginning today in these new locations:
* Gonzaga Street – north portion of Plazamart building (from west end to east end BDO)
* Gonzaga Street – outside gutter of Unitop area (at the back of Gonzaga vendors)
* Araneta Street – from front of Lopues Araneta to front of Thakuz
* Gatuslao Street – from dry goods store beside Chinky’s to shoe store before Bong Bong’s
* Gonzaga Street (of Central Market) – outside gutter
Other flower vendors selling in front of the Bacolod North Cemetery (Burgos Cemetery) and along Libertad should also get a special permit.
Gelvolea added that kiosks from all locations should start after the two-meter gap spacing from all corners for safe turning of vehicles in the areas.
