BACOLOD City – Following a significant reshuffle within the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), Colonel Joeresty Coronica, the city police director, challenged his personnel to excel in their new roles.

The reshuffling, effective from yesterday, September 5, comes as part of a routine change aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness.

The newly assigned station commanders include Major Eugene Tolentino moving from Police Station 8 to Station 2, and Captain Dax Santillan transitioning from Station 6 to Station 7.

Additionally, Captain Peter John Ramos from the General Services Office will now command Station 6, while Captain Greeky Cayao shifts from Station 7 to Station 8.

Further appointments include Lieutenant Rowena Jean Magan from the City Community Affairs and Development Unit to the Women and Children Protection Desk; Captain Sherwin Galupar as the officer-in-charge of Station 10; and Lieutenant Ildefonso Leonardo as deputy commander of Station 8.

During the turnover ceremony at BCPO headquarters, Coronica said, “This is just the first batch of changes. My challenge to you is to treat this as the last position you will ever hold – give it your best shot.”

Coronica, who was appointed full-fledged city director shortly after assuming leadership at BCPO, emphasized the need for dynamic leadership to adapt to changing community needs.

He explained that the reshuffle was partly triggered by educational commitments of two station commanders, necessitating their temporary relief from duty to focus on further training.

This reshuffle provides an opportunity for other officers to demonstrate their capabilities and align with BCPO’s strategic goals.

Coronica also stressed the importance of proactive policing to ensure community safety.

“We need to emphasize proactive measures, not just react to incidents. This includes increasing police visibility to deter crime,” he said.

Asserting his vision for the city, Coronica added, “The people of Bacolod deserve the best. It is our duty to assist the city government in achieving its vision of becoming a ‘super city,’ where safety and prosperity are paramount.”/PN
