BACOLOD City — Bacolod City recorded a 4.83 percent increase in tourist arrivals in 2025, generating more than P6.5 billion in tourism receipts, according to data from the City Tourism Office (CTO).
Records showed that the city welcomed 873,573 local and foreign visitors in 2025, up from 833,345 arrivals in 2024.
Figures from hotels and other accommodation establishments indicated that domestic tourist arrivals rose by 5.11 percent to 813,625, while foreign arrivals increased by 2.21 percent to 60,525.
Tourism receipts for the year reached P6,551,812,500. The highest revenue collections were recorded in October, November, and December, while June, July, and September posted comparatively lower returns.
The Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector also posted significant gains, with attendees surging by 77 percent to 279,200 in 2025 from 157,126 in 2024 — signaling the city’s growing appeal as a venue for major events and conventions.
Harold Geronimo, First Vice President of Megaworld Corporation, expressed optimism over the city’s tourism trajectory, citing strong leadership and collaboration between the public and private sectors.
“We are optimistic that Mayor Greg is focused on tourism right now. This is good news for Bacolod because the city can truly benefit from the growth of tourism. It has a ripple effect on local businesses, hotels, and local artisans. We are excited about the programs and eager to contribute ideas to support our city’s progress,” Geronimo said.
He reiterated concerns raised by the Tourism Council, particularly on transportation costs and infrastructure issues such as street lighting and road conditions, noting that local officials and private stakeholders are working together to address these challenges.
Ongoing improvements to airport and seaport facilities, as well as enhanced street lighting, are aimed at improving accessibility and safety for visitors.
Greg Gasataya said tourism development remains a priority as the city positions itself as a premier destination in the region.
The mayor recently met with officials of PHINMA Properties during a courtesy visit to discuss the firm’s upcoming university, hotel, and condominium complex in the city.
The project is expected to complement the ongoing Saludad Township development and create jobs, expand opportunities for local enterprises, boost tourism activity, and make quality education and modern living spaces more accessible to residents.
Gasataya also noted that Bacolod continues to rank among the country’s fastest-growing cities, posting a 7.7 percent gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate — higher than the national average of 5.6 percent.
