BACOLOD City – This city is ready for the scheduled transport strike on June 5 and 6, said Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia.
The city will deploy two city tourist buses and 10 trucks from IPM-CDC (garbage contractor) to pick up passengers from selected barangays and other strategic areas in the city during the strike.
Leonardia said they have to deploy the city’s vehicles so as not to disrupt the services of public and private offices.
The buses and trucks will be serving the public from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The vehicles will be deployed in Barangays Handumanan (three trucks); Sum-ag (one bus); Bata (one bus); Estefania (two trucks); Granada (two trucks); Alangilan (one truck); and Mansilingan (two trucks).
Leonardia is scheduled to meet with the members of the Department of Education, Bacolod City Police Office, Commission on Higher Education, and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board on Friday to discuss the possibility of canceling the opening of classes on June 5.
“After the consultations, we will make the decision and make an announcement,” Leonardia said./PN
