BACOLOD City – The Bacolod Environment and Natural Resources Office (BENRO) is redefining the terms of reference (TOR) of the procurement process for the contract of the environmental and sanitary services in this city.
Ma. Fe Trespuentes, BENRO head, said their technical working group (TWG) is now finalizing the TOR following several changes.
Part of the changes is the number of the hooklift and compactor trucks.
Based on the existing TOR of the current private contractor, IPM Construction Development Corp. (IPM-CDC), it has four hooklift and 30 compactors trucks.
Trespuentes said they need to add two more hooklift trucks because there are some secluded barangays in the city that cannot be saturated by the dump trucks.
“We need additional hooklift trucks because there were times that some of them encountered mechanical trouble. The additional ones will be on stand-by to augment,” she added.
As to the compactor trucks, the BENRO head said the city also needs more.
“Labanon ang compactors kay ari kita sa urban area. It cannot be avoided while on the route kon open ang truck. Magdalagan, nagakapalid ang mga plastic garbage,” Trespuentes said.
Once the TOR will be finalized with the support of the Solid Waste Management Board, procurement process will follow.
Trespuentes said the city is eyeing to start the bidding early next month.
“But in case the procurement process cannot be finished this December, the contract of IPM-CDC that is set to expire on December 31, 2024 will be extended for another month,” the BENRO chief added./PN
