Bacolod security forces unite to ensure safe polls this May

BACOLOD CityThe Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) joined forces with other law enforcement units under the Commission on Elections’ (COMELEC) supervision to ensure a safe May 13 elections.

“The security forces are united to ensure peaceful mid-term elections,” said Colonel Henry Biñas during a unity walk and covenant Signing held at the Bacolod City public plaza on Saturday.

According to the BCPO officer-in-charge, Bacolod is under the green category which means no evident threat will disrupt the upcoming elections in the city.

“The campaign period among the national candidates is generally peaceful, but we will be watchful for the local campaign,” Biñas said.

The COMELEC together with the police, the armed forces and other deputized government agencies will ensure fair and honest elections in the city, said City Election Officer Ann Janette Lamban.

The Philippine National Police initiated the unity walk and covenant signing as part of the simultaneous nationwide activity dubbed as “Ugnayan ng Simbahan at Pulis”, or USAP for free, credible and peaceful elections. (With a report from PNA/PN)
