BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) is seeking an additional P170 million in financial assistance from Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri to fast-track the completion of two major infrastructure projects—the Bacolod General Hospital (BGH) and the Bacolod Museum.
During its regular session on November 12, the city council approved two separate resolutions authored by Councilor Jason Villarosa, chairperson of the committee on tourism. The resolutions request P100 million for the completion of the BGH and P70 million for Phase 7 of the Bacolod Museum development.
The BGH, located in Barangay Vista Alegre, will serve as the city’s first public hospital aimed at easing congestion at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH). Once completed, it is expected to significantly improve access to healthcare for Bacolod residents.
Meanwhile, the Bacolod Museum in Barangay Tangub is envisioned as a major cultural and events facility that could generate local revenue by hosting conferences, seminars, and large gatherings.
It was learned that Senator Zubiri had previously extended financial support for both projects—starting in 2020 for the museum and in 2022 for the hospital.
Villarosa said Zubiri has expressed his willingness to continue supporting the completion of the two priority projects, recognizing their importance to the general welfare and development of the city./PN
