BACOLOD City – Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts took home the crown in secondary girls beach volleyball of the NOPSSCEA Season 39 at the University of St. La Salle here.

Led by Kathleen Tan, Aurea Alvero and Julianne Monares, the Thunderbolts reclaimed the tiara by defeating Living Stones International School in the finals, 21-17, 14-21, 15-9.

Prior to the medal finish on Sunday, the Thunderbolts trio won two of their three matches in the preliminaries before defeating the Colegio San Agustin Bacolod squad in the semifinals.

The golden finish was a major upgrade for the Thunderbolts after failing to land a medal finish in the 2018 edition when they sent the pair of Beatrice Decena and Nicolei Galvan.

Meanwhile, University of St. La Salle-Bacolod Ladies Under-17 squad successfully retained their crown in the 39th NOPSSCEA futsal with a 3-0 victory over the St. Scholastica Academy at the Bacolod City National High School Gym.

Justine Marie Mamon stood tall in the gold medal match. She converted all of the three goals of the USLS to clinch their second consecutive NOPSSCEA futsal championship.

Aside from Mamon, also part of the team were Liliana Paula Artillo, Andrea Margareth Estocado, Pia Poblador, Maian Asher Zolayvar, Alexandra Jareno, Maxene Marie Silverio, Asia Agsam, Kyoko Kitagawa, Cindy Poblador, Andrea Medallo, Kaezeanne Kim Lachica, Anya Arnaez, Maria Ysabel Estrellas, abd Trisha Blanca./PN
