MAKATO, Aklan – Krisha Dedoyco Aguillon of Bacolod Tay Tung High School athletics team delivered two gold medals for Negros Occidental in the 2023 WVRAA Meet over the weekend at the Aklan Sports Complex.
The Bacolod City-native Aguillon captured her first gold in secondary girls 100-meter dash with 12.57 seconds beating Angel Villagracia of Capiz (12.64) and Mariel Anas of Iloilo (12.70).
Aguillon, younger sister of Far Eastern University athletics player Antonette Jay Aguillon, also won a gold in secondary girls 200-meter with 25.63 seconds to outsprint Villagracia (25.70) and Cleo Azuelo of Iloilo (26.99).
Mico Villaran, meanwhile, added three more golds in the secondary boys 400-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash and 4×100 meter relay with Mardel Villaruel, RJ Medina and Wilkent Intok.
Febie Kate Brito also had two gold medals for Negros Occidental in elementary girls 100-meter dash and 4×100 meter relay event Aris Dioquino, Cherry Mae Magpusao and Marienne Villanueva.
Eiah Andrea Robles and Bhea Trayco, meanwhile, had gold-silver medal finish for Negros in secondary girls high jump, while Marianne Faith Pedales and Airex Gabriel Villanueva also added golds in elementary girls javelin throw and secondary boys discus throw.
Also with gold medals for Negros Occidental were John Castaneda in secondary boys 2000-meter walk, Warren Sabanal secondary boys 5000-meter, Justine Tiangson in elementary boys high jump and Kenneth Pancho elementary boys 400-meter hurdles.
Aklan also notched two athletics gold medals courtesy of Jeralden Torres in elementary girls 1500-meter dash and Rachel Ann Malayas in elementary girls high jump, while Capiz got one from Trixie Jane Willy in secondary girls 100 meter hurdles.
In Pencak Silat, Mickael Malic captured two gold medals for Aklan in secondary boys tanding Class B and secondary boys regu team with John Jems Jizmundo and Frenz Gregorio.
Princess Kean Jizmundo also recorded another gold for Aklan in secondary girls tanding Class C, while Jen Mar Abapo and Jamaica Mandeoya delivered a gold each for Antique, while also with gold were Alex Blanco of Negros Occidental and James Bolante of Capiiz.
In Chess, Jamelin Lim captured two golds for Negros Occidental in secondary girls standard individual and standard team with Precious Dolar, while Chester Acuyong delivered a gold for Capiz in secondary boys standard individual.
Aklan added two gold medals in wrestling from C-Jay Tapang and Jeffrey Aurelio and another one in taekwondo from Kristina Havana, while Antique notched a gold from Jean Durana in taekwondo and Guimaras also had a secondary girls team gold in archery./PN
