Bacolod to deploy more cops for holiday security

BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) plans to deploy additional police personnel throughout the city to enhance security operations during the holiday season.

Extra officers will be stationed on major streets, particularly Araneta Street in the downtown area and Lacson Street, where the city’s tourism strip is located, according to BCPO spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Ronnie Brillo.

Other police personnel will be assigned to closely monitor areas of convergence such as shopping malls, transport terminals, parks, and churches.

The number of police assistance desks across the city will increase to 30, and road safety marshals will patrol the city’s main thoroughfares, added Brillo.

Following the terrorist bombing in Marawi City on Sunday, Dec. 3, Brillo reassured the city’s residents, stating they have no cause for alarm.

However, he encouraged public cooperation by urging people to inform the police about any individuals acting suspiciously or any unattended suspicious objects. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
