MANILA – The Bacolod Master Sardines pulled off a stunning 76-69 victory over the playoff-bound Bulacan Kuyas in the 2019-2020 Chooks-to-Go/MPBL Lakan Cup at the Marikina Sports Center on Feb 7.

Clinging to a one possession advantage late in the match, Jess Mar Villahermosa and Simon Camacho spearheaded a 6-2 Bacolod scoring run to establish a 74-67- lead with over a minute left.

After missed conversions from Bulacan, Bacolod was able to seal the victory after Camacho converted two clutch free throws via a personal foul from the Kuyas’ Lyle Antipuesto with only 14 seconds remaining.

Villahermosa finished the match with 14 points, while Camacho chipped in 10 markers and six boards for the Master Sardines that capped off the elimination campaign with an 11-19 win-loss slate.

Jeric Cañada flaunted his all-around game tallying 10 points, dishing 11 assists, and grabbing four rebounds for Bacolod to also snap from its two-game losing skid.

Maganda naman talaga ang potential ng team na ‘to, it was just built late, tapos along the way there were hurdles but let’s see next season,” said Master Sardines head coach Vic Ycasiano.

JR Alabanza and Rev Diputado were the only players who hit double-digit marks for Bulacan with 11 and 10 points, respectively. The Kuyas remain in the sixth spot of the Northern Division with a 19-11 card./PN
