Bacolodnon arrested at port for bomb joke, drugs

ILOILO City – Double whammy.

A resident of Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City was arrested at a seaport in Dumangas, Iloilo for making a bomb joke and possessing illegal drugs, a police report showed.

The 45-year-old Luisito Monares was detained at the Dumangas police station.

A security guard at the roll-on, roll-off vessel port was searching his bag at around 10:12 p.m. Friday when Monares jokingly told the former there was a bomb inside it, stated the police report.

The guard arrested Monares. Police officers later arrived and frisked him, and found two sachets of suspected shabu in his possession.

Monares faces a charge for violation of Presidential Decree 1727, which declares as unlawful “the malicious dissemination of false information or the willful making of any threat concerning bombs, explosives or any similar device or means of destruction.”

He may also be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
