MANILA – Bacolod City’s Kent Jane Pastrana bannered the Philippine squad’s title run in the Under-18 Mixed 3×3 tournament of the International Basketball Federation (IBF) Youth Leadership Cup at the Discovery Shopping Mall Centre in Bali, Indonesia.

Aside from Pastrana, also part of the squad were National University Lady Bulldogs’ Noemie Ayenga and Bullpups Dom Dayrit and Kevin Quiambao.

Pastrana, a product of Doña Montserrat Lopez Memorial High School, said the experience was something they won’t forget after surviving tough matches along the way.

“We are so happy to win the tournament. We poured everything we had on the court. All the pain and sacrifice were worth it,” said Pastrana.

She added: “We are so thankful to IBF. It was such a thrill for everyone. At first we weren’t sure what to expect but now we are leaving with heavy hearts. We are surely going to miss everyone.”

The Philippines’ 3×3 mixed team clinched the championship after defeating the squads from Singapore, Papua New Guinea and Qatar.

According to the FIBA’s website, the IBF Youth Leadership is a program using basketball as a tool to help to improve communities with engagement, participation, and inclusivity./PN
