Bacolod’s pride nets 3 medals in SEA Youth Athletics

BERNALYN Bejoy won for the Philippines one silver and two bronze medals in the 2018 South East Asia Youth Athletics Championships in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Bacolod City native placed second in 400m hurdles with a 1:03.5 clocking before clinching her first bronze medal in 800m dash, where she finished in 2:14.6.

Bejoy clinched her second bronze in 4x400m relay along with Samantha Limos, Lealyn Sanita and Tara Borlain.

“I am glad that my hard work in training paid off,” said Bejoy, who was set to participate in the 2018 Palarong Pambansa next week.

“I want to thank God for giving me strength in this competition, as well as to my coach Addy Arca for preparing me well. I will now shift my focus to Palarong Pambansa,” she added.

Meanwhile Veruel Verdadero tallied his personal best of 22.24 in the 200m boys finals but settled for fourth place.

Limos and Josh Buenavista also fell short in 100m girls and 3000m boys, respectively.

Other Philippine participants were Negrense Trexie dela Torre, Bernalyn Beur, Ruthelma Laylay, Ralph Humprey Guerrero, and Jason Jabol./PN
