ILOILO City – A member of the Bantay Dagat in the municipality of Estancia in Iloilo province was arrested for possession of a homemade firearm.
Police search the house of Roberto Banaga in Purok Lagaw, Barangay Pa-on, Estancia at around 5 a.m. on Friday.
Officers recovered a .45 homemade pistol placed inside a holster, a magazine and three bullets for the same gun, and a black sling bag, a police report showed.
Banaga, a 46-year-old member of the local Bantay Dagat – a group of enforcers tasked to run after illegal fishers – was arrested as a result.
Judge Jose Mauricio E. Gomez, executive judge of the Regional Trial Court Branch 66, issued the search warrant the officers used during the operation./PN
