BACOLOD City – Barangay Singcang-Airport has been selected to represent Western Visayas in the national Lupon Tagapamayapa Incentive Awards (LTIA) competition, competing in the highly urbanized city category.

The nomination followed its recognition as the 2024 regional winner for the same category in Western Visayas, according to a letter from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 6 to Caesar Distrito, the barangay captain of Singcang-Airport, through Christian Nagaynay, officer-in-charge of DILG-Bacolod.

DILG-6 regional director Juan Jovian Ingeniero instructed Distrito to finalize the official nomination documents, incorporating feedback from the Lupong Tagapamayapa Regional Awards Committee during their Regional Virtual Validation.

As regional winner, Barangay Singcang-Airport will receive a plaque and a development fund of P50,000 at the upcoming Regional Awarding Ceremony, the date of which is yet to be announced.

The LTIA was initiated in 1982 and later elevated to a Presidential Award in 1997 by Executive Order 394, recognizing exemplary barangay justice councils across the Philippines.

The award aims to promote the Barangay Justice System by incentivizing barangays that excel in resolving disputes through mediation and conciliation.

“We are elated to be the champion among the 61 barangays of this city and now to be the Regional Champion is an overwhelming achievement for Barangay Singcang-Airport,” said Distrito.

He expressed hope for winning the national award, stating that being a national finalist is already a significant accomplishment for Bacolod City./PN
