MANILA – Andy Mark Barroca had a triumphant homecoming as he led the Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots to a 118-99 rout of the Phoenix Fuel Masters in the PBA Philippine Cup on Saturday night at the Zamboanga City Coliseum.

The Zamboanga City-native guard finished with 18 points to go with six rebounds, five assists, and a steal to be named Player of the Game as the Hotshots stayed undefeated at 4-0.

“Like what I said before the game, we are here in Zamboanga for business, not to take a vacation. We have a goal to get as many victories as possible,” said Barroca, who turned 39 on Friday.

“Of course, it is exciting to play here and we don’t want to lose in an out-of-town game. It will be an exhausting trip, so you don’t want to lose after all that,” added the former Far Eastern University Tamaraws guard.

Ian Sangalang led the way for the streaking Hotshots with 20 points, Zavier Lucero and Paul Lee contributed 17 markers apiece, while James Laput contributed a conference-best of 10 markers.

Kai Ballungay led the way for the Fuel Masters with 25 points and 15 rebounds, RR Garcia added 22 markers, while Jason Perkins produced 17 points, seven rebounds, and five assists as they fell to a 1-3 record.

Meanwhile, Blackwater Bossing used a massive second half breakaway to secure their first win of the conference at the expense of the NorthPort Batang Pier, 120-98, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Sedrick Barefield top-scored for the Bossing with 20 points, including five three-point conversions, while Christian David added 19 markers as they improved to a 1-2 win-loss slate.

RK Ilagan contributed 17 points and eight assists, while Richard Escoto, Bryan Andrade, and Troy Mallillin also hit double-digits in offense with 15, 14, and 10 points, respectively.

San Miguel Beermen (3-1) weathered a fourth quarter run by Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings (1-1) for a 104-93 victory. Jaymar Perez led the way for the Beermen with 23 points./PN
