BACOLOD City – An advocate of the current administration disclosed President Rodrigo Duterte will prioritize the approval of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) before pushing for federalism.
Mary Jane Locsin, who is an active campaigner of federalism, said Duterte needs to finish the BBL first.
Locsin was in the city yesterday as one of the guest speakers in the 8th founding anniversary of Task Force Kasanag (TFK).
“We have to finish first the BBL. After finishing the BBL, initially the President was thinking of reviewing it himself because he has the lack of time due to the Marawi incident,” Locsin said.
A 25-member committee will draft its Constitution to be passed to Congress, Locsin added.
On the other hand, an induction of officers was held also during TFK’s anniversary.
The new set of officers of TFK were John Chiong, commander; Vincent Fritz Cruz-am, deputy commander (Roxas City); Manny Villaera, deputy for operations (Bacolod); and board members Wilson Rey (Kalibo), Rico Infanto (Capiz), Paul Bulihan (South Cebu) and Aide Tan (North Cebu).
Earlier, Chiong reported that he resigned from his post as deputy commander of Task Force Crusaders (TFC), but he assured that the partnership between TFC and the reorganized TFK will continue.
Chiong said his resignation from TFC is also for the good of complainants against corruption in the government.
He said TFC and TFK will continue to be partners in the campaign against corruption and illegal drugs.
As TFK national commander, Chiong said he can directly bring the complaints to the concerned national government agencies instead of going through TFC national commander Romeo Maganto.
He pointed out that because of Maganto’s enormous workload, he cannot immediately act on the complaints coursed to his attention.
“Now I can speed up the filing of cases as well as fast track the results,” Chiong said./PN
