BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is offering a P1,000 reward to anyone who could identify those responsible for defacing public properties as well as traffic signage.
Police Colonel Noel Aliño, BCPO director, said the city government and the BCPO would also create a taskforce to further strengthen the enforcement of City Ordinance No. 08-14-679, series of 2014, also known as “An Ordinance Prohibiting the Acts of Vandalism, Imposing Penalties for Violations Thereof, and for Other Purposes.”
The taskforce will be composed of the BCPO intelligence unit and force multipliers.
Aliño added that violators should be held accountable for their actions.
Violators of the ordinance are subject to a fine of P3,000 and/or imprisonment for three to six months for the first offense.
For the second and subsequent offenses, the penalties increase to a P5,000 fine and/or imprisonment for six months to one year.
Earlier, the BCPO had committed to assist the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) address the vandalizing of traffic signage.
Aliño has warned that vandalizing traffic signage could lead to unsafe driving conditions and potentially result in accidents.
“The installation of road signs is intended to ensure the safety of both motorists and pedestrians,” he said. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
