BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has deployed cops to the city’s public plaza following the September 17 stabbing incident that lead to the death of a manicurist.
Primitivo Tabujara, head of the city’s Public Order and Safety Office (POSO), said to deter the same incident from happening again, the BCPO’s Police Station 1 deployed police officers from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. to the plaza and a roving patrol team during night time.
POSO personnel were also deployed to augment the police especially during night time, Tabujara said.
The POSO chief added that the city government now prohibits any individual, particularly mendicants, illegal dwellers, vendors, and manicurists, from sleeping at the plaza.
City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting Jr. said that vendors have been regulated at the public plaza through the issuance of identification cards (IDs). However, no IDs have been issued to manicurists doing business thereat, he said.
On September 17 at around 3 p.m., a manicurist was stabbed to death by a fellow manicurist.
According to the Police Station 1, a heated argument ensued between the two over a customer.
Major Elmer Bonilla, chief of Police Station 1, said the victim identified as alias “Ana” sustained two stab wounds on the chest. He passed away while receiving treatment at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.
The suspect identified as alias “Chem” immediately fled on board a motorcycle and remained at large as of this writing./PN
