BACOLOD City — The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), under the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), has mobilized hundreds of police personnel to ensure tight security for the upcoming National Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Games 2026.
The event is set from May 9 to 16 in Bacolod City.
A total of 276 BCPO personnel have been strategically deployed across key areas to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of the week-long national sporting event, according to Col. Eugene Rebadomia.
The event is expected to draw around 12,000 student-athletes, coaches, delegates, and spectators from across the country.
Security operations cover billeting areas, competition venues, convoy routes, and other critical locations.
PRO-NIR said assigned units include area security teams, covert security personnel, Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and K9 units, as well as standby investigators.
Additional augmentation forces from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOcPPO) are also expected to bolster security coverage.
Authorities said the intensified deployment aims to strengthen ground security, improve inter-unit coordination, and ensure rapid response capabilities throughout the duration of the games.
PRO-NIR is also closely coordinating with local government units, PRISAA organizers, and partner agencies to establish a unified and seamless security framework. Police officials emphasized that preventive and proactive measures are already in place to address potential threats and maintain peace and order during the event.
Rebadomia said the send-off ceremony for deployed personnel was held on May 3, signaling the start of full-scale security preparations for the national games.
“We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all participants and visitors,” the BCPO official said.
Meanwhile, PRISAA officials and technical personnel gathered on May 6 for a three-day refresher course ahead of the competitions.
The activity, held at the STI West Negros University Gymnasium, brought together tournament directors, assistant tournament directors, technical officials, coaches, officiating personnel, and technical support staff.
In his welcome address, Dr. Ryan Mark S. Molina, president of the PRISAA Sports Foundation Inc. and PRISAA-Negros Island Region, underscored the importance of teamwork, coordination, and collaboration among officials to ensure the successful staging of the national games.
The National PRISAA Games 2026 will officially open on May 9, with STI West Negros University serving as the primary host institution in partnership with the Bacolod City government and the provincial government of Negros Occidental.
