What was touted to be the wedding of the year between Bea Alonzo and Vincent Co may no longer push through as the couple called off their Spanish wedding amid alleged conflict in certain provisions of their prenuptial agreement.
This was according to a highly-placed source privy to the wedding plans who told INQUIRER Entertainment that showbiz’s drama darling and the scion of one of the country’s most prominent business clans have reached a stalemate in the signing of their prenup agreement.
According to the source, there were certain provisions that the family of Co deemed to be “unfair,” but which Alonzo insisted on. While INQUIRER Entertainment was informed of some of these conditions, the source asked not to make these public.
The source explained that these guests opted to use the plane tickets meant for the wedding. “Nakabili na sila ng tickets, kaya tinuloy nalang nila.”
The couple — who have been notorious in keeping details of their relationship, more so, their wedding, private — was initially speculated to tie the knot at the St. Peter the Apostle Parish in Manila, until it was reported that an ultra-private ceremony will be held in the European state.
This was also fueled by sightings of Alonzo’s family at an airport in Spain. Dimples Romana and Boyet Ahmee, who are known to be close to the actress, were also seen boarding a first-class flight to “a foreign country.”
Prior to her relationship and subsequent, albeit unannounced, engagement to the Filipino-Chinese Co, son of retail magnate Lucio Co, Alonzo also got engaged to another actor, Dominic Roque. They however broke their engagement after several months, also allegedly due to disagreements in their prenup.
Co currently holds the following positions in these publicly-listed companies: chairman of Cosco Capital, Inc. and Puregold Price Club, Inc.; chairman and president of Da Vinci Capital Holdings, Inc.; and director of Philippine Bank of Communications.
Alonzo herself is a billionaire owing to her multiple business enterprises and properties, and a lucrative career, to boot. Various reports have surfaced claiming Alonzo’s management was holding back the actress from signing the prenup. Her camp has yet to address the allegations.
Amid her reported wedding plans, the actress is currently preparing for her TV comeback. GMA earlier confirmed that filming for her upcoming political drama “Whispers From Heaven” has already begun.
