MANILA – The future is bright for the National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs ahead the new University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) women’s volleyball season following the commitment of seven players from its core, the championship-caliber Lady Bullpups.

Leading the group of former Lady Bullpups who swore to represent the NU colors in the collegiate ranks are two-time UAAP juniors Most Valuable Player winner Mhicaela Belen and Best Opposite Spiker awardee Alyssa Solomon.

Joining Belen and Solomon to NU’s collegiate team are Erin Pangilinan, Sheena Toring, Kamille Cal, Merienne Maderazo, and Taylor Peña.

The new recruits are expected to fill the gap left by graduating players Risa Sato, Joni Chavez and Audrey Paran.

Lady Bulldogs head coach Norman Miguel said in an interview with the NU website that he is thankful for the commitment made by the girls despite some of them were lured by rival UAAP teams.

“We all know that these players are highly skilled and competitive, which are huge factors for our dream in giving the NU community a championship title,” Miguel stressed.

The magnificent seven fresh recruits will join their former Lady Bullpups teammates Ivy Lacsina, Ilongga Princess Robles, Joyme Cagande, Jennifer Nierva, and Elaine Cloza.
NU Lady Bulldogs had a solid start in UAAP Season 82 with a 2-0 win-loss record following victories over University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses and Adamson University Lady Falcons.
 The season, however, was cancelled due to coronavirus disease 2019 outbreak./PN
