Black Saturday blaze leaves P100-T damage

ILOILO City – Properties worth around P100,000 went up in smoke after fire hit Barangay Cuartero, Jaro district.

The Black Saturday blaze left one house totally destroyed and two establishments – Sam Car Aircon Service and JJL Car Aircon Repair and Service – partially damaged, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

The fire started around 6:28 p.m. It was put under control around 6:49 p.m. The BFP declared a “fire out” at 7:09 p.m.

Fire Officer 3 Denmark Macoco of the Iloilo City Fire Station said the blaze originated from the totally gutted house owned by a certain “Colonel Jungko.”

No one was hurt nor killed. No one lives in the house. A caretaker tends to it from time to time.

The BFP has yet to determine what caused the fire./PN
