Blaze hits houses in Brgy. Liberation

ILOILO City – Fire struck five structures including houses of village officials on Fuentes Street, Barangay Liberation, City Proper on Sunday.

The houses of Barangay Kagawad Ariel Bondiola and the Bayas family were totally gutted, investigators said.

A boardinghouse owned by Corazon Talja, the house of Barangay Captain Niel Parcon and the Iloilo Fu Guang Guan building were damaged.

Senior Fire Officer 2 Juanito Tumulto said they received a fire call at 1:55 p.m.

Around 15 tenants in Talja’s boardinghouse were affected. Some of their valuables were burned.

Investigators from the Bureau of Fire Protection estimated the cost of damage at P300,000. They have yet to determine the cause as of this writing.

Fire struck the same village on April 23. Two houses, a laundry shop and a Chinese temple were gutted./PN
