ILOILO – The border control points here may be extended until July.
However, according to acting provincial administrator Atty. Suzette Mamon, the decision would depend on the remaining days of June, that’s if coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases here would see a decline.
“In the meantime, status quo kita… Pero if given nga daw effective sia (border curb imposition) basi kon mag-extend man si Gov. (Arthur Defensor Jr.) pero basi indi gid man tama ka lawig,” Mamon told Panay News.
The province logged not less than 100 new COVID-19 cases daily last week.
“The governor will decide kon i-retain sia or halog-halogan sia,” Mamon added.
Meanwhile, the ban on liquor trade and consumption shall still be in effect pending Defensor’s new executive order.
This also goes to the prohibition of recreational or leisure activities in accommodation establishments, hotels and resorts.
Mamon viewed these restrictions as effective in curbing public mobility.

Earlier, Defensor said he could extend the province’s modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) – set to end on June 30 – until July.
In case of such extension, Defensor said he would make adjustments to the protocols and quarantine measures.

The governor said he would wait for further announcements from the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).
As of June 27, Iloilo had 11,695 total confirmed coronavirus cases – 2,597 active, 8,811 recovered and 287 deaths./PN
