ILOILO City – Various streets in Jaro will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow, Feb. 2 as the district celebrates the annual feast of the Our Lady of Candles.

Vehicles will be rerouted, too.

This will give way to a procession in honor of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria that will start from the Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral, pass by areas around the public plaza and head back to the church.

The whole stretch of E. Lopez, Fajardo, Commission Civil, and Jalandoni streets will be inaccessible to vehicles, the Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) said in an advisory posted on its Facebook page, citing Regulation Ordinance No. 2018-011.

The PSTMO said vehicles may not be able to pass by the following streets:

* Benedicto to Commission Civil and Rizal

* corner Isabel/Divinagracia to Lopez Jaena

* Simon Ledesma/Democracia to Lopez Jaena

* IBC/Maria Cristina to Lopez Jaena

* N. Villa/Maria Cristina to Lopez Jaena

* Lopez Jaena/Santo Domingo to Rizal

* Arguelles to Fajardo

* Fajardo/Cuatero to Lopez Jaena

* Santa Isabel/Cuartero to Lopez Jaena

* Villalobos to Cuartero

* Rimas/B. Aquino to Cuartero

* EL 98 to Rizal/Jaro Plaza

* Burgos to Jaro Plaza

* Jalandoni to Jaro Plaza

* E. Lopez/Javellana to Jaro Plaza/Rizal

* Commission Civil/M. Jayme to Jaro Plaza/Rizal

The Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria procession will start at the Jaro Cathedral, head to E. Lopez to M. Jayme, turn left to Commission Civil, turn left to Fajardo, turn left to Libertad, and then back to the cathedral, according to the PSTMO.

Public utility jeepneys (PUJs) plying the Ungka-Jaro CPU and Jaro CPU routes must pass by Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue (Diversion Road) in Mandurriao, turn to Jalandoni toward E. Lopez, and then back to its original route.

Jaro Liko-NFA, Jaro Liko-Tagbak and Leganes PUJs bound for La Paz district and City Proper must pass by Simon Ledesma toward Santo Domingo, Cuartero, EL 98, and Diversion Road, turn to Jalandoni toward E. Lopez, and then back to its original route. (With Panay Balita/PN)
