Brothers on drug watchlist nabbed in Roxas City

CAPIZ – Two brothers on the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) watchlist were arrested in a police raid on McKinley Street, Barangay I, Roxas City, on Wednesday evening, September 10.

The suspects were identified as aliases “Jay-Ar”, 27, and “Nel”, 28, who had long been under surveillance for alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.

Barangay kagawad Dante Ona Flores said in an interview that the two had been monitored by authorities for some time due to persistent reports of illicit activities.

During the operation, law enforcers seized four sachets of suspected shabu weighing more than 55 grams. The confiscated items have been submitted for laboratory examination.

The brothers are facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which carries severe penalties for possession, sale, and use of illegal drugs.

They are currently detained while awaiting formal charges and further legal proceedings.

Authorities stressed that the operation highlights the government’s continuing campaign against illegal drugs and urged the public to report suspicious activities in their communities./PN
