
KALIBO, Aklan – Kalibo’s Mayor Juris Sucro emerged as the new president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)-Aklan Chapter.
The two-term chief executive of Kalibo will hold a three-year term from 2025 to 2028 following his election as LMP-president on Wednesday, September 10, according to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Aklan.
Sucro formally took his oath of office before Aklan’s Vice Gov. Dexter Calizo.
Also elected as provincial chapter officers were Denny Refol, Sr. (Altavas) for vice president; Jose Miguel Miraflores (Ibajay) for secretary; Prescilla Gale Calizo (Balete) for treasurer; Josephine Iquina (Malinao) for auditor, and Noel Redison (Banga) will serve as public relations officer.
The board of directors were Leoncito Mationg (Makato), Rex Gubatina (Madalag), Meekia Icasas (Lezo), Shimonette Francisco (New Washington), and Gene Fuentes (Tangalan).
The Election Committee was spearheaded by Allan Dagohoy (Buruanga), James Solanoy (Nabas), and Rogelio Enero II (Numancia).
“The DILG-Aklan congratulates the newly elected officers and expresses its full support to LMP-Aklan Chapter in advancing effective local governance and fostering stronger collaboration among the local chief executives in the Province of Aklan,” the DILG-Aklan said in a Facebook post.
The mayor’s league, mandated by the Local Government Code of 1991, is a national organization for all mayors of municipalities in the Philippines which serves as a platform for local leaders to discuss issues, express concerns and collaborate on initiatives relevant to their communities./PN
